Dr. Cristian Cristea - Stuff of pets

For those who have not yet met Cristian Cristea from the veterinary clinic for pets … I just want to tell you that it is a special and abundant veterinarian, involved in various educational activities and determined to make this world a better place.

VJ: 8 years have passed since you finished the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, through students who break your threshold for the practice, as can be seen now the educational standards to which they have access?

CC: I believe that the level of education in the field of veterinary medicine has increased exponentially in the last 5 years, today’s students benefit from other learning methods, because the standards have been raised by some members of the university staff who have understood the need to change the obsolete technique and has adopted the only method that has a single method that has a single effect that has an effect that has an effect: «teaching by charm», as a professor, as a professor, Logic, who teaches St. National in Botha.

True, we still have teachers of the «old school» who are convinced more hard, but I think we are on the right way.

From the multitude of associations that guide doctors to different specializations, as well as the Rovec (Romanian veterinary emergency and intensive care society) whose co-founder is and promotes emergency medicine and intensive care, in the new disciplines that have appeared in FMVB, as the emergency course, initially introduced as an optional question. Mandatory, I believe that all this has led to the increase in educational standards for the 2017 students.

VJ: Having said that, what have you lost more in the students’ years?

CC: If I asked me then, the free time was the main resource that I missed and then an attractive and well -arranged learning method, which would help us put our thoughts in order and logically, not mechanically. I think many disciplines really miss the charm.

However, there were then university staff in the hours when I made love and here I can exemplify: Manuela Militaru, Iuliana Ionaşcu, Cristina Fernagiant, Ruxandra Costea, Teodou Soare, Alexandru Viţiant and last but not less important, Alexandru Diaconescu. About a few for 6 years of college and 2 other masters.

Personally, it took me two years to learn to learn. The first year was a real torment, I wondered what I was looking for and how much I would have resisted … I remember how I had a study group, we were 10-12 colleagues from different groups, Saturday and Sunday I went to the anatomy laboratory where we were trying to learn the bones, muscles, organs, etc.

We were learning according to the books written by teachers E. Pastea and V. Gheţie, who were almost not in antiques or older colleagues, which was why they were rather expensive.

The next thing I heard was the lack of respect by a university staff (it is a sensitive topic that I prefer not to develop).

I don’t know with certainty what the situation is now, but in 2003-2009 with my hand on the heart I can say that it was sad in some disciplines and out of respect I will not give the name (even if I am sure that those teachers does not read this interview). I hope, however, that now the situation has solved.

VJ: Together with your colleagues from the clinic, run in schools and among the owners some special educational projects. What results do you want to appear?

CC: We are trying to increase the degree of education of children and adults in terms of visa pets and how we have the obligation to take care of them.

We are trying to teach them that it is not enough to offer them food, shelter, regular medical care and toilets. An animal, which is located in the house and is vaccinated, reduced, washed and hairdresser, will not be a happy animal if we do not offer it part of our time.

I am referring to a minimum of 2-3 hours a day to play it, to walk it, to comfort it, spend a quality time together. This should be the purpose for which we want a partner.

We want to teach them what quality medical services mean, at the same time to make them aware and the true material value of these services. We want to contribute to the development of veterinary medicine and to increase respect for the owner of animals towards the vet and our profession.

And the results have not been delayed, so our current and future customers are clear and will be «smarter than their», to paraphrase a radio that I like to listen.

VJ: What did you determine to choose emergency veterinary medicine?

CC: I don’t know if I chose emergency medicine or for cases that have passed our threshold and for which we had to train to cope. The trust of the owners who chose us was what has always done to us to be in step with everything that is new and offer them the latest diagnostic and treatment methods.

VJ: Your clinic, company stuff, is one of the most seen clinics in Bucharest. How is a successful veterinary clinic? What does a veterinary clinic mean to face emergencies today?

CC: It is managed quite difficult and this is due to our lack of managerial education in the school, the desire to be both manager and a doctor, of the day on which we try to stretch, 24 hours at the end.

It is difficult to manage due to the company and the entrepreneurial environment in Romania, which can still be called otherwise but not favorable. It is a hostile environment that does not support private entrepreneurs, it is an unstable and unfortunate environment and this can be seen in many fields. Economic policy, taxation, are obstacles regarding the development of any company and, of course, a veterinary clinic.

An emergency clinic mainly involves very well trained doctors, technicians and auxiliary staff. These prepared people are difficult to find and must be paid as a preparation.

It also implies a well -developed management, and here I want to thank my associate Ruxandra Tenia, with whom I started the activity in 2007, when I opened the company and went up to this point, together with the company of the veterinary clinic.

I also have to thank our friend and colleague, Alexandru Buzdea, who in addition to the medical part is involved in this part of the clinic and employees.

An emergency clinic also requires equipment, very and expensive equipment that allow us to offer our patients complex complex treatments and quality medicines.

VJ: The professional road is also sprinkled with obstacles. What was your support pillar in difficult times?

CC: Ruxandra, mother, father, aunt, sister, grandfather, grandmother and friends. They are the main support pillar. As a secondary pillar I believe that perseverance, ambition and the desire to get out of anonymity have helped us to overcome all the obstacles for 10 years since we opened this company.

VJ: What is the most important lesson you learned in your veterinary career?

CC: That there are no differences between humans and animals, they are also the right to be treated with the same respect and professionalism, therefore our motto «out of respect for life».

We have learned that there is only a medicine that applies to all living beings and we have a duty to launch ourselves with all the resources to save the life of any patient.

VJ: What are the real satisfactions of this profession?

CC: The gratitude we receive from every patient we save and from their owners. Congratulations, paintings, portraits that we receive, thanks, are also a source of satisfaction. So let’s forget the sleepless nights, fatigue and disturbance.

For this I want to thank all the owners of our patients, who have invested us as doctors of their ruthless friends and gave us their trust and their lives in our hands.

I assure you that we will continue to give us to do everything possible to give them the best treatments.

VJ: What are the greatest frustrations of these exchanges?

CC: The cases that we cannot save, these are real frustrations.

The emotional load that a doctor accumulates when he is facing an incurable condition or when he cannot save a patient, is enormous and very difficult to manage.

Unfortunately, we will not excel here, we are not trained for this. Fortunately, there are therapists, very well trained psychologists that we can call to learn to manage all these frustrations, but how many of us have they thought of resorting to their services?!?

VJ: What do you contrast the aspect of professional burning?

CC: The physical, mental and emotional exhaustion makes its presence increasingly between our generation and is based on continuous and persistent stress, which we face daily and which, finally, leads to a total tiredness of the body.

I appealed to a method of personal development that I think helps to combat professional combustion, i.e. psychotherapy or psychoanalysis.

I have been doing it for several years, more than 6-7 years, in groups of friends who also had different activities in the same environment or in different environments. Basically, we met and we complained about the reason we were happening, we were discussing, looking for solutions together with several common problems we were facing.

For several months, however, I decided to call a specialist and I found a very good one. Now I do regular sessions, in an organized environment and the effect is miraculous. Personally, encourage everyone to try this type of therapy because I think it is one of the best investments in us. We have to take care of our psyche so that he can take care of us.

In addition, I was smoking, I try to impose a normal meal and sleep program (but I can’t) and I want to start practicing sports to get rid of excess kilos and because I sleep better when I am physically tired.

VJ: How does your personal time capitalize?

CC: In the last year I have also used it in a productive way. I try to spend all the time with the family and friends, to travel and meet many new people and new places, to do things that I like how to do the sky, to guide, watch Romanian films, read and play basketball.

VJ: What would be the most important advice that you would give to a young graduate in veterinary medicine?

CC: To be honest, honest, acquire healthy principles that do not violate.

Do not compromise, respect to be respected, persevered and think positive and not least, always give 100% in everything they want to do. In this way, it will surely arrive where he wants!
