With the arrival of winter the temperatures fall and sometimes this can be very unpleasant for our quadrupeds, whether they grew up at home or in the courtyard. So they need a little help from us. The needs of dogs in winter differ according to life, age, health, the place where it is raised, of the type of fur it has.
Dogs grown inside

1) Depending on the external temperature program, your walks or playing time. When temperatures are very low, it is preferable to remove them for short but frequent walks.
2) Every time you come back from the walk, dry the lip cushions for salt and do not slip to avoid sliding on the streets or sidewalks hit the cushions of our dogs. It is preferable when you go out to fatten the Lanolina cushions or products specifically designed for their protection. You can find them in the trade. Of course, if they support the winter boots, they will be useful. In this way it will not be influenced by the non -slip and will not be exposed to the various accidents caused by sharp stones covered by snow, pieces of ice, etc.
3) The clothes even if they are not approved by all dog owners, sometimes they are very necessary. They are needed for dogs with short fur and being large dogs (for example: Doberman, boxers), they are needed for small dogs, chicks, old men and health problems. So if necessary, use winter clothes with confidence. Preferably winter clothes are waterproof or batteries. No cotton. The cotton is soaked in water from the snow and we do more damage than good for our dogs.
4) Avoid walking for dogs in the morning and evening. Take advantage of the sun from lunch or slightly higher dining/afternoon temperatures. In the morning and in the evening it is the coldest, so the walk will not be satisfactory for the quadrupeds.
5) In winter we all know that the antifreeze is widely used. Take care of your dogs what they eat/ling from the floor. Avoid walking through the machines
6) Even if it is not summer, dogs also need normal water in winter. Preferably, if you have the opportunity to take a bottle of hot water from home, it will cool down enough until the quadruped is thirsty. It is preferable to use plastic/rubber bowls at the expense of the table. The sheets cool the water much faster. Put them to drink what they need, to put another water when they need it. Do not leave the water discretion outside because it will become very cold and will damage your quadruped
7) Play with the ball/Frisbee is preferable in exchange for slow walking. Making the dog’s movement, the dog will support the low temperature more easily, we also avoid the weight of the specific puppy for the cold season.
8) The dog diet in winter must be slightly different from the rest of the years. Of course, this is mainly applied to exposed dogs, to those who live in court. The dog’s food in winter should be fat and the amount slightly increased. A real help is fish oil specifically designed for them.
9) Make dogs a bed or cushion/blanket that can rest. Even inside an empty floor it can be cold for them.
10) During the winter holiday period in which the use of Pcnitor/fireworks/firecrackers begins the period of the day in which they are rarely listened to to remove the quadrupeds for a walk. During this period, in no way leaves the dog without a leash. It does not matter how trained it is, at the hearing of an obstacle, it can be frightened and can run to risk a car accident or lose it. On New Year’s Eve you can distract its attention with the increase in volume on TV, with some tasty prizes, without exaggerating carefully because it shakes them even more. If you have like, put an internal cage covered by a blanket in which you can host. Some dogs find in such a shelter and feel much better in a narrow place. If you don’t have a cage, you can improvise them from some beds and chairs a safe place where you can get.
Dogs grown outside

1) Dogs raised outside do not dress. Otherwise the clothes can be wet and will keep them colder than warm. Assuming it is an appropriate dog for external life, it doesn’t need clothes
2) The place is very important where we sleep or where our dog can be withdrawn in case of rain/ snow/ viscol. It is ideal for ensuring a cage with isolation in a withdrawn place, strategically positioned so that the mouth of the entrance is not in the wind. The mouth of the cage should not be big, it must be exactly like adapting to the dog in the cage in the opposite direction, it represents only a large hole that facilitates the entrance of the wind/cold. The cage is good not to be positioned directly on the ground. It is good to have a support, to be slightly high. The entrance to the cage is ideal for having a switch in this way prevents the wind from entering. In the cage there are no old clothes, beds, cushions, pilots. These will inevitably be wet and will do much damage to the dog. In the cage, protect the clean and dry straw. These are very hot, dry quickly and can change whenever necessary. The cage should not be much bigger than the dog’s life because in this way the warmth will be lost from its body. Of course, not even smaller so that it does not fit.
3) As I wrote above, food in winter should be increased quantitatively, contain more fat and for dogs that are outside it is preferable that at least 1 meal a day is hot.
4) preferably that the quadruped is not kept linked in winter. It needs movement. Make it a worst tar in which to put the cage in this way the dog can move. If you really have to be tied, make sure you have enough place available to move. If it is too short, it will not be possible to move as much as it needs and will always cool down.
3) be careful that the quadruped has fresh water at discretion. Preferably, to put a plastic or rubber bowl and water in a safer place. Table bowls do nothing but water to cool much faster. Change the water several times a day. You can put a ball in the bowl that will float, in this way, the water will freeze stronger.
4) The dog’s fur must be brushed. This prevents the formation of the horse that adheres to ice and snow. The hairstyle fur works like a shield against the cold. Do not cut dogs from the outside in winter.
5) During the winter holiday period, when there are PCs everywhere, firecrackers, fireworks, it is necessary to take safety measures. We know very well that few dogs tolerate the noise made by them that’s why during the holidays there is a very increased number of losses. Due to the strong noise, dogs are afraid and try to escape. Unfortunately, some are successful. So if you have the opportunity during the holidays, take further precautionary measures that the dog cannot escape the courtyard. During the night, especially on New Year, try to host it in a closed place, a room, garage, barn. If you still leave it in the courtyard, make sure the fence is high enough not to be able to jump and keep it tied, the ties are solid so that they cannot escape.
Therefore, even if at first glance in winter it seems ungrateful work with so many precautions, in reality it is a very loved season of our patrols and the real pleasure for them to fly through the snow. We just have to take care of some things and the rest is insured.
