How to do correctly external for cats

If you want a healthy and safe kitten from the harmful effects of parasites in its surroundings, regular external deworming is a necessary task.

Next, you will learn how to correctly carry out external deworming in cats and why it is so essential for their well-being.

Why is the external puzzle important in cats?

One of the reasons why I regularly recommend the external deworming is the fact that a regularly exposed decarasite cat is less exposed to the risk of developing hypersensitivity to the puncture of fleas with an external cat.

Another enough reason to dig the cat is that fleas can be a carrier for different diseases. Therefore, numerous diseases can be transmitted by its puncture. For example: Haemobartonella Felis – bacteria, causes hemobartonellosis, affects red blood cells.

It doesn’t matter that your cat does not leave the house and, according to this reason, not triggers it externally. You are an important carrier because you can carry eggs and fleas of fleas to the shoes sole.

What kind of products do we use for external deworming in cats?

The choice of the right product can be a real challenge. There are a variety of products on the market, in different pharmaceutical shapes such as pipettes, scratches, chewable tablets, spray, shampoo, etc. The product will be chosen on the basis of the cat’s age, weight, physiological state (for example gestation, lactation) and the environment in which the cat lives. In the case of cats in the external environment, the use of collars is contraindicated, they can be closed and therefore asphyxiation.

An extremely important aspect, which should not be neglected in your cat’s external deworming process is the fact that you should never use products for dogs (in particular products that also contain active substances).

How do we correctly apply the treatment for external deworming?

  • In the case of chicks that weigh below 500 GE less than 6 weeks, it is recommended to manually perform the external red with the help of a very narrow teeth comb. There are products based on selamectin especially for chickens, but they can be used after 6 weeks and after the animal has exceeded 500 g.
  • The pipes (Spot-on solutions)-are usually applied inter-pacapular, behind the head. So the cat cannot be licked instead of the application.
  • The tablets to be administered, being attractive, are recommended specifically to cats subject to various therapeutic shampoos.
  • The scratches – are applied to the neck, so that between the cat’s skin and the collar there is a distance of about «a finger». Great scratches will not have their effect. I recommend in case of scratches, for 100%protection, the use of pipette or tablet.
  • SPRAYS – They are applied by spraying on the skin of the animal. These, compared to pipettes or tablets, have a much lower period of action.
  • Shampoo is not the right choice for cats, but they can be used in the case of enormous fleas of fleas.

In order to increase the effectiveness of the external deworming, it can be performed periodically and disinsement in the environment. But be careful! The product used for diasection will not be used on the cat’s fur.

Conclusion

In conclusion, protecting your kitten from external parasites is one of the most important responsibilities of responsible pet ownership. Fleas, ticks, mites, and other external parasites are more than just a nuisance—they can cause discomfort, skin infections, allergic reactions, anemia, and even transmit serious diseases that may affect your kitten’s overall health and development. Because kittens have developing immune systems, they are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of these parasites, making consistent prevention essential from an early age.

Regular external deworming should not be viewed as a one-time treatment but as an ongoing part of your cat’s preventive healthcare routine. By following the recommendations of your veterinarian and using safe, age-appropriate parasite control products, you can significantly reduce the risk of infestations throughout the year. The frequency of treatment may vary depending on your kitten’s lifestyle, whether it lives indoors or outdoors, the climate in your area, and its level of exposure to other animals. Even indoor kittens can be exposed to parasites that are accidentally brought into the home, so preventive care remains important regardless of their environment.

In addition to keeping your kitten safe, following a good schedule for parasite prevention also helps protect the health of other pets and family members. Some outside parasites can carry germs that might infect people or other animals, making parasite management an important part of having a healthy home. Combining regular deworming with good cleaning habits, regular vet visits, and a tidy living space creates the best defense against health issues related to parasites.

Watching for signs in your kitten such as too much scratching, hair loss, skin problems, or signs of fleas or ticks lets you act fast if an infestation happens. Finding problems early and treating them quickly can stop small issues from turning into major health concerns and lower the chances of parasites spreading in your house.

In the end, spending on regular external deworming is an easy but very effective way to make sure your kitten has a happier, healthier, and more enjoyable life. Preventive care is always simpler, safer, and usually cheaper than handling the problems caused by parasite invasions. By making external parasite control a regular part of your pet care routine, you are giving your kitten the safety it needs to become a healthy, lively, and flourishing adult cat while ensuring you have the peace of mind knowing your cherished pet is well protected.
